Media now report that Disney star Adrienne Bailon's agent, Jonathon Jaxson, has admitted that he and Bailon concocted the story of the leaked pictures from the stolen laptop. The laptop had indeed been taken, but the pictures were never on the computer in the first place. The photos of Bailon were deliberately distributed to several news organizations and blogs.
"Adrienne's tour with Cheetah Girls will be over December 22nd, so she is then free to pursue other projects and wanted to be seen as more adult and sexy," Jaxson said.
"So after the laptop was stolen we used it as an opportunity to drum up some publicity and start speculating about nude photos, but we never expected anything to get out."
The scandal turned Internet publicity stunt sent the Internet into a frenzy for Adrienne Bailon nude pictures.
Jonathon Jaxson even attempted to manipulate the news cycle, coming out with a statement less that a day after the pictures appeared on various web sites claiming that Adrienne Bailon would sue any media orgainization found to have obtained and printed the images.
Before the "scandal" broke, Adrienne Bailon was a lesser known Disney star, part of the 3 girl group The Cheetah Girls. The Cheetah Girls are currently touring with a stage show and have appeared in a number of made for TV specials that have rated highly on the Disney channel. Adrienne Bailon is popular with tween girls, a market that Walt Disney actively targets. The successful attempt by Jonathon Jaxson at raising his clients profile through a photo scandal was as he says aimed at increasing awareness of the Adrienne Bailon brand to larger slice of the population and the tabloid media.
